2014 Show

Mud…Glorious Mud!

Our 2014 Show was definitely a wet one. Despite rain and all the slipping and sliding the Roseville General Store had 1,273 visitors.  Nineteen States: Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Iowa, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nevada, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Virginia, Washington and Wisconsin. Other than Iowa, the following are the top 5 states in order of the number of people visiting the store:  Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, California, and Ohio. We also had two foreign countries: Costa Rica and Serbia.  144 of our Iowa communities were represented.

WOW, that is one way to describe the 2014 show at the Cedar Valley Engine Club.  Rain was the topic at hand leading up to the show and each night we dealt with more of it during the show.  I think over a 4 day time table we had, depending on who you talked to, up to and if not over 5 inches of rain.  Heck, we had more water on the grounds than I can ever remember.  I can just imagine how full the tile lines were running.  We were so blessed with the die-hard spectators and exhibitors that helped put on a great show, mud and all.  I envisioned a few heading to the draw on the grounds to drop a fishing line in the water just for a photo shoot.

In all, the ground really recovered well despite all the rain.  If it would not have been for the rain on Sunday night, we could have been plowing on the North ground on Monday.  It was just a good thing that the threshing machine was pulled closer to the buildings on Sunday night before the rains set in.  From the bottom of our hearts, we would like to thank those who came out to see our show and helped put it in the record books.
